"Enter the Matrix being Betwixt and Between", on Gathering Voices

This week on Gathering Voices we will be discussing the Brighid Festival at Brescia University College.  It's being held this weekend from February 19-21 and the theme this year is suitably Celtic Twilight: it's Enter the Matrix being Betwixt and Between.  Come to a weekend of spirituality, solidarity, learning and ritual with special guest facilitator Dr Mary Condren. And Dr Mary Condren is our guest on Gathering Voices.

To register for the Bridgit Festival please email the circle at uwo dot ca or telephone 519 432 8353 extension 2 8 2 8 8 or see www.brescia.uwo.ca/thecircle/brigit.htm/.

On Saturday you can chooe between seven different workshops facilitated by London and area women.  The only problem is you need to choose just one!
1. Earth Rhythms: Grounding Your Spirit in the Rhythms of Nature with Lorenna Bousquet-Kacera
2. Sound Out with Andrea Eichholzer
3. Dancing in the Open Moment: Connecting to Your Soul's Thread with Mary Hamilton
4. Drumming on the Edge: Raising Energy for your Dreams with Sheila Horrell
5. Visions and ReVisions: How to Invoke Brighid as your Muse with Penn Kemp
6. Looking Inward and Looking Outward with Lynette Richards
7. Meeting Between the Worlds: A Path of Devotion with SophiaHeath
Due to the overwhelming success of The Circle's Brighid Festivals in 2008 and 2009, we are delighted to have Mary Condren return for a third year to help us celebrate and delve further into the figure, mythology, hagiography and wisdom of Brighid.  Brighid is an ancient role model for modern women - she was a leader and a revolutionary, a healer and a wise woman. The myths, traditions and tales of St. Brighid are often merged with the Celtic Goddess Brighid (also a powerful figure in the pre-Christian pantheon) giving us an extraordinary figure of exploration and inspiration.

This year The Circle's Brighid Festival will allow you to "Enter the Matrix" and immerse yourself in the energy that is  "Betwixt and Between".  Mary Condren will explore the "matrixial" dimensions of Brighid's spirituality rooted in Old Irish matri-centered culture. One of the great religious prophets, Brighid fostered "mercy not sacrifice" - a matrixial spirituality based on maintaining relationships, rather than a phallic spirituality based on sacrifice and splitting. Legend tells us that Brighid was born in the doorway... inbetween

"Brigit provides an image of empowerment, integrity, courage, and complexity. She was pagan and Christian, rich and poor, slave and free. She invites us, therefore, to focus on what we have in common, rather than on what divides us."

See you at Brescia!
